Gorgeous graphics
Destructible environments
Just plain fun!
Needs a beast of a machine to run (that still doesn't exist!)
Ending is weak
When I first heard that the developers of the original FarCry were making a new FPS, I was immediately on board. If the new title was to be anywhere near as good as that, it would be a game worth experiencing, and upgrading my PC for.
And upgrade I did!
Although by the time the game came out, my rig was 2 months old, and yep, the game chugged at max details. After tweaking around with the settings for quite a while, I ended up playing at around 1280x1024 with most details set on high, and I was amazed!
The game looks absolutely stunning, add to that the great physics engine and the amount of different ways you can approach the situations, it has a tonne of replay value. The guns feel heavy, and even though the enemies take 400 shots to put down, it's incredibly satisfying destroying an entire enemy outpost.
The game has a few different variety of levels, but mostly your in a jungle laying waste to countless Koreans. That is, until the ending...
An obvious twist happens and unfortunately, after that, the game loses it's appeal somewhat. The game still looks fine, but the gunplay just isn't as fun from that point on.
And then the final boss battle REALLY destroys your machine.
All in all, however, the game was a blast to play through, and with Crysis: Warhead coming out soon, I'm looking forward to diving into that world once more.
