What is the World GamesMaster Tournament (WGT)?

WGT is a prestigious annual gaming tournament held worldwide. The Australian event will bring together the very best players at a team event (Counter-Strike: Source), and two individual events (Quake IV) & (Warcraft III).

Qualifying rounds will be held online using BigPond GameArena's high speed game servers. The Grand Final will be played over a LAN at Atomic Live in Sydney on October the 18th.

What are the prizes?

Prize schedule*

Team Counter-Strike Source:

$2,500 team cash prize

Plus each team member will receive:

1 x Gaming LCD monitor
1 x P5E3 Deluxe / WiFi
1 x EN8800GT/512

Individual Quake IV:

1 x GamingNB

Individual Warcraft III:

1 x GamingNB

*Specific models of the prizes will be announced prior to the event.

How do I register for the WGT?

To compete in the WGT you need to be a registered member of the BigPond GameArena site.

Players wanting to compete in the Counter-Strike: Source Tournament will need to join or create a team in order to compete.

How many Player/Teams spots are open for each event?

There are currently no player/team limitations. As many teams/players may join.

How many events can I play in?

You are permitted to compete in all the WGT Counter-Strike: Source tournament, the Quake IV and the Warcraft III Tournaments. Please note though, that if you plan on competing in all, there is no guarantee that a scheduling clash won't occur. Please ensure that you have sufficient members in your Counter-Strike: Source team available for any possible scheduling clashes.

Can I use my own equipment at the Finals?

Yes you can, but it's not essential. You can provide your own Keyboard, Headset, Microphone and Mouse however you may not use your own PC, high-spec PCs will be supplied for you.

What date does the on-line qualifying start and finish?

On-line qualifying will start on the 14th July 2008, and run through till the 15th August 2008.

When and where is the Grand Final?

Where: The Badgery Pavillion, Sydney Showgrounds, Olympic Park
When: October 18h. Doors open 10am, show finishes at 6pm, and there's enough to keep you entertained all day long!

The WGT grand final will be held in a dedicated arena at the Atomic Live event, on October the 18th at the Sydney Showground.

How do I get there?

Interstate finalists with be provided with free flights to and from Sydney to participate in the final, if required. You are responsible for your own accommodation. NSW residents are responsible for their own travel arrangements.

Who can play?

Any Australian resident 18 years of age or over.
